The CrossAlta storage facility is located near the town of Crossfield, Alberta, just north of Calgary. The plant's gas-driven and electrically-driven compressors and gas processing facilities are staffed around the clock. Gas is stored in a depleted reservoir that had been used to produce gas at this location since the 1960's.

The facility is connected to TransCanada’s Alberta system and boasts peak withdrawal capacity of 537 TJ/day (480 Mmscf/day), expandable to 1,122 TJ/day (1Bcf/day).  Working gas capacity is 56 PJ (50 Bcf), expandable to 89 PJ (80 Bcf).
